COURSE DESCRIPTION
Young children notice patterns everywhere, often before they have language for what they're seeing. That instinct is an early building block of mathematical reasoning, supporting logic and fluency well before formal instruction begins. Participants will build on that instinct with structured approaches for helping students recognize, extend, and analyze patterns. In this course, participants will examine the cognitive development behind pattern recognition, identify instructional strategies for teaching patterns in PK-2 classrooms, and build activities that give students hands-on practice with patterns.
