Standards for Mathematical Practice

The Standards for Mathematical Practice describe the habits of mind and ways of thinking that students need to develop in order to engage with mathematics the way mathematicians do. They are often the most overlooked part of the standards, treated as an afterthought rather than a central goal of instruction. In this course, you will take a close look at each of the eight practices, explore what they look like in real classrooms, and develop strategies for designing tasks that actively engage students in building these habits over time.
